Daycare near Westwood Plateau Coquitlam

Looking for daycare in Westwood Plateau? Love Kids Daycare Coquitlam sits at 3007 Pasture Cir in Ranch Park on the east side of Coquitlam, a straight east run once you come down Plateau Boulevard off the hill. We are licensed and ECE-certified, and enrolling ages 3 and up for September, with a waitlist open for infants and toddlers.

Where Westwood Plateau Sits, and Why the Drive Works

Westwood Plateau climbs the southern slopes of Eagle Mountain in the north end of Coquitlam, bounded by the Port Moody city line to the west, David Avenue to the south, and Pipeline Road to the east. It covers 570 hectares (about 1,400 acres) of hillside rising from roughly 60 metres to nearly 400 metres. Almost every lot has at least a mild slope because the whole community climbs the mountain.

That hillside layout is why parents here think about the drive down first. Plateau Boulevard is the spine of the community. It feeds onto Johnson Street and lands you in Coquitlam Centre in about 5 to 7 minutes. From there, our centre in Ranch Park is a short east push across Guildford Way and the Lougheed corridor to Pasture Cir. It fits the natural downhill morning flow of the plateau instead of fighting it. If your street feeds onto David Avenue rather than Plateau Boulevard, David runs straight east-west from Port Moody through to Port Coquitlam and lands you at the same set of arterials.

We are at 3007 Pasture Cir, Coquitlam, BC V3C 2C3. From Westwood Plateau, come down Plateau Boulevard onto Johnson Street, then east through Coquitlam Centre and across the Lougheed corridor to Pasture Cir in Ranch Park. Call (604) 338-8020 and we will walk you through the route from your exact street.

A Family-Heavy Hillside Neighbourhood

Westwood Plateau is one of Coquitlam's most family-heavy pockets. The median age is 39.8, average household size is 3.60, roughly 78% of households on the plateau include children, and average household income sits around $96,776. Dual-income working families who need reliable care to hold both jobs, which is the profile we build our program around.

The neighbourhood was crown land that Wesbild Corp. bought in 1989 and built out between 1989 and 2005 into 4,525 homes. By the 2016 census, 19,776 residents were up here at a density of about 3,500 per square kilometre. Housing splits almost evenly between 2,349 detached single-family homes and 2,174 townhomes, duplexes, and condominiums. One piece of local history that surprises new families: the neighbourhood is named after Westwood Motorsport Park, Canada's first purpose-built permanent road course, which ran on this land from 1959 to 1990. Hampton Park Elementary now sits where the raceway used to run.

Schools and Catchments Around the Plateau

Every level of school sits inside or right on the edge of Westwood Plateau. Which school you land in depends on which side of the plateau your house is on, so check your street against SD43's catchment map.

  • Elementary catchments across the plateau: Bramblewood, Panorama Heights, Pinetree Way, Hampton Park, and Walton Elementary.
  • Middle: Summit Middle, Scott Creek Middle, or Eagle Mountain Middle.
  • Secondary: Gleneagle, Heritage Woods, or Pinetree Secondary.
  • Private options in the area: Our Lady of Assumption and BC Christian Academy.

When your child is with us at ages 3 to 5, we line up early-literacy work with the elementary you are catchmented to. If you are in the Bramblewood or Hampton Park catchment, tell us on the tour so we can build the last year of preschool around the school your child will actually walk into.

Parks, Trails, and the Weekend Rhythm

Westwood Plateau has about 23 kilometres of hiking trails woven through the community, plus two golf courses. The Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club runs a championship 18-hole course and a 9-hole executive course, with the Fairway Grill open through the season. Kids on the plateau grow up outdoors.

  • Ridge Park for the off-leash dog space and hiking access into the hillside behind the plateau.
  • Bramble Park for tennis, ball hockey, and baseball. A go-to for the after-school hour.
  • Panorama Park for the summer waterpark, tennis, and the soccer field.
  • North Hoy Creek and Hampton Park for quieter walks and playground time.

Our weekday program fills the hours with the same active, outdoors-friendly rhythm the plateau lifestyle already sets. Kids in our care get outside every day the weather allows, so that when Saturday hits Ridge Park or Bramble Park, they are ready for it.

Everyday Errands: Westwood Plateau Village

The everyday shopping stop on the plateau is Westwood Plateau Village, anchored by T&T Supermarket and Walmart, with O-Sushi, the Fairway Grill, and Plateau Pizza in the same complex, plus the IGA complex with a Starbucks and liquor store. A lot of our plateau families plan pickup around a Village stop. Come off Plateau Boulevard, grab your child at Pasture Cir, then head back up for groceries or dinner on your own street.

Why Westwood Plateau Families Choose Love Kids Daycare

Plateau parents research before they commit. Here is what you get with us, in plain terms:

  • Over 16 years of continuous operation at the same Ranch Park location. Some of the children we started with are now in high school.
  • Every staff member holds an Early Childhood Education diploma. Not just the director. Every educator working with your child has completed formal ECE training. It is a firm requirement across the whole team.
  • Licensed by the Province of BC under the Child Care Licensing Regulation, and inspected regularly.
  • Low child-to-staff ratios. Our licence caps us at seven children under BC's family child care rules.
  • Daily updates to parents. Meals, naps, activities, mood. Plateau commutes into Vancouver and Burnaby can be long, and you should not spend those hours wondering.
  • BC Childcare Subsidy accepted. If your family qualifies, we help you apply it against fees.

  • Full-Day Daycare Mon-Fri, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
  • Family Daycare for siblings of different ages once an under-3 spot opens.
  • Subsidized Child Care for families qualifying for the BC Childcare Subsidy.

Transit from the Plateau: Honest Version

Transit inside Westwood Plateau is bus-only. Service runs about every 30 minutes most of the day, tightening to every 15 minutes at peak and dropping to hourly late at night. Buses connect down to Coquitlam Central and Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain on the Evergreen Line. That works for commuting to work, but almost every plateau family drives to us for drop-off. If you are a transit commuter, drop your child at Pasture Cir first, then park at Coquitlam Central and catch the Evergreen Line from there.

Questions Westwood Plateau Parents Ask Us

How long is the drive from Westwood Plateau to Love Kids Daycare?

You come off the plateau down Plateau Boulevard onto Johnson Street, then east across Guildford Way and the Lougheed corridor to 3007 Pasture Cir in Ranch Park. It is a straight east run once you are down the hill. We do not quote a specific minute figure because plateau elevation and morning traffic on Lougheed can shift it, but most families settle into the drive as part of their morning within the first week.

Which school catchment is my child in on Westwood Plateau?

It depends on which side of the plateau you live on. Elementary catchments across Westwood Plateau include Bramblewood, Panorama Heights, Pinetree Way, Hampton Park, and Walton Elementary. Those feed into Summit Middle, Scott Creek Middle, or Eagle Mountain Middle, and then into Gleneagle, Heritage Woods, or Pinetree Secondary. If you tell us your street when you call, we can help you line up your daycare schedule with the elementary you will start at in a couple of years.

Do you take BC Childcare Subsidy?

Yes. We accept BC Childcare Subsidy. If your family qualifies, we walk you through the application and how it applies to our fees. Westwood Plateau household costs run high on the mortgage side, so if the subsidy can take pressure off the childcare line for you, we want you to actually use it.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. That window covers the plateau commute pattern of dropping down Plateau Boulevard, catching the Evergreen Line at Lafarge Lake-Douglas or Coquitlam Central, and getting into Vancouver or Burnaby for work with time to spare.

My child is under 3. Do you have space?

Our infant and toddler spots are full right now. BC licensing allows three children under 3 and all three are taken. Join the waitlist and we will call the moment one opens. We are actively enrolling ages 3 and up today, including kids turning 3 soon.

Is transit a realistic backup from Westwood Plateau?

Realistically, no, and we want to be honest about that. Inside the plateau, buses run about every 30 minutes most of the day, tightening to 15 minutes at peak and to hourly late at night, and they connect down to Coquitlam Central and Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain on the Evergreen Line. That works for a commute to work, but with a small child and a diaper bag on a hill neighbourhood, almost every plateau family drives to us.

We live near Westwood Plateau Village. Can we swing by after T&T or Walmart?

Absolutely. A lot of plateau parents plan pickup around a stop at Westwood Plateau Village, whether that is T&T, Walmart, the IGA complex, O-Sushi, or Plateau Pizza. Come off the plateau on your normal route, pick up your child at 3007 Pasture Cir, and you have already ticked groceries off the list. That is the whole point of a route that fits your life.

My kids are a baby and a preschooler. Can they be together?

Under-3 spots are on the waitlist right now, so we cannot put a baby into care today. But once a spot opens, our Family Daycare program is built so siblings of different ages can be cared for together in a home-like setting. It simplifies your morning off the plateau and it is genuinely comforting for both kids. Call us to talk through the ages and the waitlist and we will figure it out.

Can we tour before we decide?

Yes, and we push every family to do this. Call (604) 338-8020 and we will book you a free tour. Come see the rooms, meet the educators, ask every question you have. No sales pitch. We just want you to feel completely comfortable before you commit.
